After founding members A.J., Alex, and Omar Vallejo of El Campo, Texas — who made the most of their high school music department by playing in the jazz, marching and symphonic bands — moved to Austin in 1995 and hooked up with additional band members Heath Clark and Diego Simmons, Vallejo quickly became one of the city’s top draws, packing clubs with their distinctive brand of catchy, Latin-spiced hard rock. Vallejo now has their own label allowing them to release albums as quickly as their rabid fans can snatch them up. To wit: the psychedelic-tinged ballad “Wait For Me” comes from Stereo — one of the three albums Vallejo released in the last year alone.
