San Antonio-born singer-songwriter Terri Hendrix first picked up the guitar at age 7 and later made the most of her high school music program, singing in choir and earning a classical music scholarship to Hardin-Simmons University. But it wasn’t long before a more free-spirited musical route led her from the central Texas coffeehouse scene to some of the most renowned listening rooms and festival stages in the country. With an eclectic range of styles and seven critically acclaimed albums released, Hendrix is one of the most successful independent artists to come out of the Texas scene. The frisky “It’s About Time” may seem worlds removed from her opera days, but it’s clear that her lifelong pursuit of music of all kinds has been time very well spent.
