Stevie Ray Vaughan began his career as a bass player in Dallas. After gaining popularity from the release of his 1983 debut, “Texas Flood,” he quickly rose to fame, sharing the stage with the likes of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy. Vaughan is a four-time W.C. Handy Award winner and a six-time Grammy winner, including Best Traditional Blues Recording for "Flood Down in Texas" in 1984, and Best Rock Instrumental for "Say What!" in 1987. In 1990, he lost his life in a tragic helicopter crash following a gig, but his legacy lives on, influencing many rock and blues artists nationwide.
