A first-tier pioneer of modern Tejano music, Ruben Ramos developed a solid reputation as one of the smoothest singers and classiest bandleaders in the history of the genre. Like most Tejano artists, Ramos grew up listening to Mexican standards, blues, funk and soul. Born in Sugarland, Texas, Ramos came from a musical family. In the early 70s, Ramos formed the Mexican Revolution. The group would prove to be one of the most innovative Latin acts, centering its content on Chicano and civil rights. As a solo artist, Ramos has cemented his legacy as one of the forefathers of Tejano music.
