Pat Green needs no introduction in Texas - at least not to aficionados of the homegrown Lone Star country scene, where independent songwriters can muster loyal crowds that would make many a mainstream Nashville artist jealous. Green is the uncontested leader of that pack, a festival headliner second only to Willie, with a truckload of anthems college kids across the state know by heart. Although he's yet to achieve quite that level of popularity on the national scale, he's off to a roaring start. Both his first two major-label albums, 2001's Three Days and 2003's Wave on Wave, scored him Grammy nominations. "Elvis" showcases Green's more freewheelin' funky side, with Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel's Ray Benson joining in on the fun.
