Another displaced Texan looks homeward fondly (her memories embellished, perhaps, by that California wine she's sipping). Griffith is a native Texan who grew up in a bohemian household in Austin where folk music and progressive politics were two leitmotifs of her childhood. Although she has lived in Nashville for many years and toured everywhere from Ireland to Vietnam, Griffith's heart still points to the Lone Star State, the setting for many of her most cherished tunes, including "Love At the Five and Dime" (set at a long-vanished Woolworth's in downtown Austin), "Gulf Coast Highway" (which Willie Nelson and Bruce Springsteen have both covered) and "Spin On A Red Brick Floor" (written as a valentine to Anderson Fair, the Houston folk music emporium where she got her start) and, of course, this long-distance toast to her old stomping grounds.
