Lucinda Williams was born in Lake Charles, La., the daughter of a poet father and pianist mother. During the 1970s, while living in Austin and Houston, she began to hone her songwriting craft, which has now earned her three Grammy Awards including her popular country rock song, “Passionate Kisses.” She has been called one of the “Top 100 Women in Rock” by VH1 and has recorded seven albums, including “Rambling on My Mind” in 1979, “Happy Woman Blues” in 1980 and “Lucinda Williams” in 1988. Her latest album, “World without Tears,” was released this year and is an equal mix of blues, folk, country and rock.
