For many, Austin guitar hero Eric Johnson is still best known for his unforgettable Grammy winning instrumental, "Cliffs of Dover," and the majestic album that carried it, 1990's Ah Via Musicom. But as Johnson's devoted fans would surely attest, it's just the tip of the iceberg. Long one of Austin's favorite guitar virtuosos, Johnson earned raves from Johnny Winter when he was just 16 and later made Musician's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of the 20th Century." In his hometown Johnson remains a perennial favorite at the annual Austin Music Awards, while his albums and performances continually find him broadening his stylistic range to encompass everything from rock to jazz to atmospheric new age soundscapes and of course, as showcased here on "Boogie King," good ol' Texas blues.
