Del Castillo's blend of old-world Gitano (gypsy), new-world textured flamenco guitars and blazing hand speed made it one of the most celebrated bands in Austin, Texas. Del Castillo was formed by brothers Rick and Mark del Castillo in 2001. While recording the debut album, "Brothers of the Castle" (2001), they rediscovered their roots. The album was a huge success for local fans and critics alike. Its second album "Vida" (2002) confirmed Del Castillo as a rising star in the booming Austin music scene. The band nearly swept the Austin Music Awards, winning album of the year and band of the year.
