Bonnie Raitt may not be from Texas, but as she’s proven many times over her three-decade recording career, she definitely fits the bill as a “lone star.” She was one of the great guitar-slingers featured on 1996’s A Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan, which found her performing SRV’s “Pride and Joy” and jamming on three other songs with Stevie’s brother Jimmie. As a singer-songwriter, she’s crossed over from blues to become one of the most respected and beloved voices in American popular music — with nine Grammys to show for it. Bonnie also has a long association with Texas bands like The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Ft. Worth's legendary Delbert and Glen, featuring Delbert McClinton and Glen Clark, from whom she got 'Sugar Mama.' And if all that ain’t good for some genuine Lone Star cred, then Willie’s a Yankee.
