MEMORANDUM
June 2007
TO: Friends of the Texas Music Project
FM: Texas Music Project Board of Directors
RE: New Executive Director and Board Members
The past year has been one of transition and progress for the Texas Music Project (TMP). We want to update you on
our changes and successes.
In April the board appointed Michael Clay, co-founder of TMP, as the new executive director for the organization.
Michael will now focus the majority of his professional time on the programs of TMP and its fundraising activities. For the past year he has
led the organization as senior director and spokesperson.
Margaret Jackson and her firm, MJO Consulting, have served TMP for the past year as administrative director,
helping to determine the scope of work for the executive director. We are grateful to Margaret and her colleagues for their work on behalf
of TMP and our mission.
In continuing to expand the board of directors of TMP, two new board members have been added. We welcome
Marty Greenberg who joined the board this past August and Ken Stein who joins the board in May 2007. Continuing board members are
John Paul Batiste, Cami Dawson Boyd, Michael Clay, Susan Clay, Robert Floyd, Lisanne Glew, Richardo Hernandez, Marilyn Pippin,
Jennifer Stapleton, David Tapley, Eric Terry and Eric Zukoski.
These additions are part of the expanding TMP mission to help strengthen and restore rigorous music education to Texas schools.
This spring’s Texas 10 Under 20 Rising Star Showcase contest consisted of student bands and solo
performers helping to raise funds and awareness for school music programs around the state.
In addition, we have received four donations in 2006 for TMP’s initiatives for a total of $130K that will
go for music education. We would like to thank Boeing, Gaylord Texan, Pepsi and the Hudson Foundation.
We will keep you informed of TMP’s work and progress as we fulfill our mission. We appreciate your support.
