Bryan Earle, a Texan and a lover of Texan music, savored every kind
of music this state can produce. An independent spirit with
wide-ranging tastes, Bryan listened with ears both alert for
discovery and comfortable with old favorites. He never stopped
adding to his music collection, with heavy metal and punk albums at
home next to ones by hip-hop, country, and Latin artists. As a
youngster, he began playing acoustic and electric guitar, spending
hours on the riffs to his favorite songs just out of sheer
enjoyment for playing. Known to drive for hours just to catch a
concert by an up-and-coming indie band, Bryan was a fan of music in
the truest sense of the word.
During his treatment for cancer, the first compilation CD for the
Texas Music Project was often the traveling accompaniment to
radiation therapy, and he shared TMP's commitment to music.
Throughout his life, Bryan loved to share music with his friends,
and when he died on Dec. 26, 2005, his friends and family all
remarked that it was Bryan who had introduced them to good music of
all kinds. In his welcoming spirit, we are establishing the Bryan
Earle memorial fund for the Texas Music Project. Join us in
encouraging music education in the Lone Star State and in honoring
Bryan, music lover and music maker.
